Traditional Idli

🥘 Ingredients

  • 4 cupsIdli Rice (Parboiled)
  • 1 cupUrad Dal (Whole White)
  • 1 tspFenugreek Seeds
  • 2 tspSalt
  • for grindingWater

👨‍🍳 Instructions

Soak rice and dal separately (add fenugreek to dal) for 4-6 hours.

Grind dal into a fluffy, smooth batter using ice-cold water.

Grind rice to a slightly coarse texture.

Mix both batters with hand to aerate, add salt, and ferment overnight (8-10 hours).

Pour batter into greased idli molds.

Steam for 10-12 minutes until soft and fluffy.
