Chainsoo: The Black Gram Magic

🥘 Ingredients
- 1 cup, wholeBlack Gram (Urad Dal)
- 2 tbspMustard Oil
- 8-10 cloves, crushedGarlic
- Turmeric, Coriander powder, Black pepperSpices
- a pinchHing
👨🍳 Instructions
Step 1 (Roasting): Dry roast the whole black gram in a pan on medium heat until it becomes aromatic and turns slightly darker. Let it cool.
Step 2 (Grinding): Grind the roasted dal into a coarse powder. Do not make it a fine flour.
Step 3 (Sautéing): Heat mustard oil in an iron kadai. Add hing and crushed garlic. Sauté until golden.
Step 4 (Cooking Powder): Add the ground dal powder and sauté for another 2 minutes in the oil.
Step 5 (Gravy): Slowly add 3 cups of warm water while stirring continuously. Add spices and salt.
Step 6 (Simmering): Cover and cook on low heat for 20-25 minutes until the gravy thickens and the dal is cooked. The color will turn dark due to the iron pot.
Step 7 (Serving): Serve hot with rice.
